On a more serious note...
Living in a Caribbean Island with a rather impressive history of hurricane-induced suffering, no handy escape routes to drive to, and too many power and water shortages than we care to count (but somehow gotten perfectly used to), I cannot but feel sorrow and pain for the people over in LA, Mississippi, Alabama and all other affected areas. That was some hardcore hurricane, even we haven't been hit that hard in ages.
So I will relay this email I got today:
- We at Craft Revolution have been watching the news coverage together (online) with heavy hearts. We know full-well the power of the indie community to come together to support one of our own in need. Now is the time to mobilize that power and reach out to the victims of this horrific storm.
We have approached Etsy.com with a plan to offer donated indie items for sale on their website. Etsy has offered us shop space and to help us promote the event by mentioning the event in their blog and featuring some of the items from the shop.
All proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund, which is providing hot meals to victims and rescue workers, as well as providing other much needed assistance such as shelter, medical needs and even therapy for victims. Our initial goal is to raise $1,000.
For more information on how you can help (even if it's by spreading the word), access this page. As of this moment, $250 in donations have been received.

The Planner of Life
It seems like ages since I haven't fully finished something. Been crafting slowly, but unlike my last crafty breakdown a few weeks ago, this time it will not affect me so.
So... BEHOOOOLD! Le very first Star Magnolia mini-planner/notepad/to-do-list thingy. Made out of funky aqua blue cardstock paper and mod circled light paper, it holds 6 pages (on both sides) where you can scribble down notes and your daily to-do list on my fancy Gocco'd brown designs. You can also store little somethings on the small vellum envelope attached to the back. Oh, look! There's even a mischevious white butterfly on the front. And all this sparkly magic is held close to your heart by a nifty pamphlet bound.
Too bad I have to give it away to someone and not keep it. Never worry! Mr. Planner Orangeque is here to save you! (Except for his pictures because well... I'm really tired of snapping awful nighttime photos with Flash).

Planning ahead
After finishing Danwei's wristlet (which I won't show because... well, it's not quite the surprise, considering she already saw the cut parts, but still...you gotta retain a little bit of dignity and surprise in this bizness. Or something. Back to the post, now. Thank you.)..., I worked on a few paper goodies. First, finished (sorta) my boy's mini-album (which, again I won't show because, even though he knows it's a mini-album, he's unaware of how it will look in the end. I think.). Then I used my Gocco to print a few Notes/To-Do-Lists pages for the mini-planners. Me thinks they're turning out quite cool. The green swirly thing is the cover for the blue-paper mini-planner, which shall go to a special someone (which shall remain undisclosed. No, it's not you Rafa.) pretty soon.

Diamonds are a girl's best friend!
Ohh im beeming with excitement! Not even on my birthday did I receive such lovely gifts!
First off, I must say my boyfriend is my favoritest person in the whole world! A few weeks ago I wistfully sent him a link for a pair of cute earrings from india*romeo. Never did I imagine actually getting them!! AND I DID! Horayyy!! They are so dreamy. Makes me wish I had flowery Summer dress complete with hideously big hat (Southern Style, yeahhh). Head on over to india*romeo's website for more awesome goodies. Not only that, but she also included a little bag with promo material from other indie shops, including about four or five funky buttons!
The madness does not end there, though. Look what I got from Danwei (Cornyness) for our little trade across the Atlantic (she lives in Sweden). Look at the starfish! Too cute! What I love the most about that specific pair are the small seashells dangling about. I can't believe these are made from fimo. And I love my new button ring. The butterfly earrings look edible :)

All in all, a happy day for little Amy, who cannot wait till she can wear ALL three pairs simultaneously! Thank you Rafa, Ileana, and Danwei, y'all are my new favorite people!

After a whole Summer without a penny to my name, I still don't have such monetary value to my name. BUT I managed to make some funky crafty shopping today! 001. BEHOLD! The Xyron 250 Sticker Maker! 002. Retro Prints Paper Stack Okay, I didn't buy anything else, but it felt like quiet a lot! Danwei's white wristlet is close to completed (as seen in the photo below). See that little padded donut there? Don't worry, I'm not trying to out do My Paper Crane, this is just for... well a friend of mine. She may read this blog, don't want to spoil her surprise! The other white wristlet features a top-stiched brown tree. Can't wait to finish this one. Oh and you can see the Bob the Sixtopus stickers from the Xyron oven on the bottom right!
Maybe I should blame my compulsive stationery-buyer roommate. But I'll
just blame it all on the rad paper goods these indie designers are producing!

Oh the sparkleness of it all!
Been eyeing this piece of magical sorscery for a while. I saw it two months ago, the only one remaining, at my local scrapbook store all alone and desperate. The box itself was a bit in shambles. Oh, how it was calling out to me. Silently, patiently. It knew it would eventually hunt me down. And it did. Oh dear God you are a delight!! So nifty and easy to use. I'm in love once again. (Though I kinda wish I'd gotten a red one.)
Did I really need to spend $12 on a 144 sheet 4x6 retro paper pack??
You betcha!!
003. Some assorted cardstock papers. Purdy colors.

Work in Progress - Planner!
Ahh, lovely extended post-fair break. But I need to get back to work soon!
Thanks to Seam Ripper's Bird Cage Stationery Set, I put my dusty Print Gocco to good work and created these two templates for a compact mini-planner I'm, well, planning on doing. Tomorrow I shall order my mother to take me to the scrapbook store and stock up on paper supplies. Uhhh all that dictator-like dialog makes me giddy with excitement! :)

Oh, the happy heart-shaped leaf? Can you tell I'm stupidly in love? ;)
Um, with a man. Not with the planner. Although I kinda am in love as well with this minty green textured paper. :)

Though I may die, I shall be graceful
Been carrying around in my suitcases three small wrapped canvas waiting to be butchered by my inferior painting skills. So today, I finally decided to do something about it. Based on a previous wristlet design, I succumbed to Nature and painted this dying olive green cherry blossom set against an aquamarine world. I find it peaceful, I guess.
How lovely it would be to die under a cherry blossom such as this.
(hmm wonder if I can recreate a similar setting for a photo shoot. HMMM, indeed)
Oh, yes, those are the obligatory sequins glued in there, acting as the spunky cherry blossoms!

Noche de Galerias
Yay! Horay for craft fairs! w00t w00t!
After facing desperation and anxiety over the (slow) speed of my crafty hands, my chico Rafa finally convinced me to brave the waters and sell my stuff at Noche de Galerias (Gallery Nights) last week. I already had about four handbags ready, so I thought it would be a good idea to speed things up by making smaller, less elaborate purses along with a few Bob plush toys and wristcuffs.
With 22 final products, I finally set up my small table at 6pm and awaited the night along with all the other crafty people. Unfortunately, the open plaza lacks proper lighting for each vendor, so I couldn't light the ultra-clever fish tank where my Bobs were being displayed. :( Oh well, you learn.

I walked around the other tables to oogle at the crafts, but found myself slightly disappointed at the lack of originality. I mean, it's awesome that you're crafting, but how about if you put a little spin on your products so that you stand out among the rest. Most of the jewelry (the dominating craft that night) was fairly similar. Very few dared to craft outside the box, like Luinny who made AWESOME bracelets from altered beer bottle caps (the metal kind). Yes, we agreeded to a trade, cuz I need to have that bracelet! Some kids silkscreened t-shirts, a girl made some cool decorated trash cans, another one made cute bathing suits, plus a few I might be forgetting. Still, it's a relief to see so many people crafting about.

All in all, I was fairly successfull, selling 80% (very uneducated estimate!) of my baggies. People really liked them apparently, and a few commented so. I even coaxed five people to join the mailing list! The fish tank full of Bobs caught the attention of a few curious minds wondering what the heck were those little...things
Incredible huge thanks to Rafa for being my reliable sidekick and to Digital, who funnily enough, once he showed up people started to buy my bags. He became the Official Star Magnolia Lucky Charm! Oh and I was so happy my good ol friend Liliana stopped by!!!
