Saturating the ground?
My brother suggested I open up an online consignment shop before venturing into brick & mortar territories. While the idea has been roaming around my head ever since we started running Mutation (which btw, application is up), I do realize there are plenty of established "distros" on the net that pretty much dominate that field.
Such as, Plainmabel, cutxpaste, day-lab, my-my, Funkyutopia, Chocosho (what's with the small caps?) and others. I am afraid that if I do embark on this, I will be overshadowed by these other stores (and they are all rad of course). My store would need to stand out somehow. One option would be to emphasize the work of my Mutation vendors and other indie artists from the South East, but also including national artists (even international, definitely would feature some Puerto Rican crafters).
What do you guys think? Do you think the Internet needs yet another consignment shop?
I would love to interview the creators of such shops but I'm wary that they might not like to reveal much information, considering I'll be another competition they have to watch out for, you know? Sure we're all gung ho about promoting our indie community, but we also need to stay afloat individually.

Creo que me parecía mejor idea lo de la tienda de verdad, en ella puedes ofrecer el trabajo de jóvenes diseñadores a la gente de Savannah, mientras que en la tienda on-line estarás dirigiéndote al mismo público que todo el resto de las tiendas que has mencionado. Pero eso no quiere decir que no vaya a funcionar, como tú bien dices, necesitas ofrecer algo que sea ligeramente diferente, para diferenciarte. También puedes tener la tienda de verdad y la tienda on-line como complemento, al estilo de Rare Device, así una se complementará con la otra.
En cuanto a tu fotografía: sí, es lo suficientemente buena como para que alguién quiera contratarte, ¡inseguridades fuera! Además, si vas a tener una tienda, tendrás que hacer fotos de los productos, más o menos complejas, con lo cual vas a usar lo que sabes, ¡ahí tienes una ventaja!

Muchisimas gracias amiguilla! Tu siempre tienes las palabras que uno necesita para seguir adelante.
Y si, es cierto lo que dices sobre la tienda online. La unica manera en que yo estaria dispuesta a abrirla seria si me invento algo para diferenciarla entre las demas. De lo contrario seria otra online shop mas. Y cual es el punto en eso.
Estoy averiguando unos espacios peque~nos en el Art Center de la ciudad (donde llegan muchos muchos muchos turistas) que son rentados a artistas para que tengan un estudio o para una tiendita. Son espacios bien pequenos, pero hable con una chica que dise~na joyeria y las vende alli mismo y me dice que solo paga $350US y que lo que tengo que hacer es enviar un portafolio y ellos decidiran si te a~naden al waiting list y cuando un local este disponible te contactan y te lo ofrecen. Eso es una excelente opcion, y estoy averiguando mas sobre ello.
But yeah... en esas estoy. Y si, se supone que no este bloguiando pero mis tareas de la escuela son muy aburridas jeje
