You don't choose who you love

I am knitting a scarf. I cannot even explain to myself my undying love for scarves. The softness. How I rest my neck upon them. How my neck feels a little bit more secure. How I feel a bit sleepier as my cheeks absentmindedly caress it. How my fingers peek through its stitches when I am bored. How my earrings love it so much they unhook from my ears and travel to its softness. How they can make a fashion statement. How a boy will use it to pull you closer and kiss you for the first time. How they provide a little bit of comfort.
Funny thing is... I, Caribbean Emissary Extraordinaire, hate the cold weather. Don't usually look forward to single digits, or riding a bike in the wee painful morning.
But scarves...scarves I LOVE them. And even though right now, I cannot choose where I am, because it chooses me, I will always have a little scarf to snuggle me into warm, Caribbean dreams.
