Star Magnolia Logo in progress

After contacting several fantastic illustrators, I realized that, for the moment, it's ideal I design the logo on my own. I calmed my senses, knowing the long-standing battle with Illustrator is a fierce one, and I am not trained for it. But I did it. I made something half-decent on Illustrator (I congratulated myself with cheesecake, mmm).
So, your opinions, please. Outline, or fill. Which fonts? Does the design look bad amateurish? Does it make sense?
In my opinion, I think it describes my new Star Magnolia style. Sophisticated, but cheery. Oh and simple. What says y'all?

I like the flower filled in. But I don't think you need the design under the words 'star magnolia'. Keep it simple. That being said, I like the top one best and the bottom one second best. The font of the second one down is just slightly slower/harder to read at first glance and you don't want that in a logo.

Hello! I like them all--but in the end, I go w/ the first one.
I also wanted to say that from what I've seen on your website, I think you're really creative/talented--I know it's tough now, but it'll make it that much sweeter in the end. Wishing you well!!

kay, total lurker here but have to say I love the logo. I think 1 and 4 are my favorites of the design vs. fill options but I'm totally torn on the fonts. Maybe the 3rd one is my favorite font although I'm wondering if it were a little bit bigger I'd like it even more. Love the look of it but it does seem like the name is more prominent in the others so maybe it's not the best choice for name recognition. They're all cool fonts though. Awesome job. :)

I like the first one, with the combination of outline and fill. and I like that font. maybe try some more fonts... my personal favorite is Centabel Book.
good work!!

I like the first one on top and the one all the way on the bottom. The only thing that bothers me a bit is that the bottom swirl thing looks too mustache-y.

Hi there, I know you don't know me, I stumbled across your blog a while back and bookmarked it. I was going through blogs today and saw this posted. Even though you have no idea who I am, I figured I would post my thoughts on your logo.
I agree Illustrator isn't a beginner friendly program. It looks like you picked it up though.
I am going through the same process right now. I am developing my business name and creating a logo. I am one of the most fickle clients I've had to deal with - ha!
I like the font you chose in the 3rd one down. But I like the illustration in the bottom one the best. While I love the color green (I have a green color in mine too =), I think another color might be worth looking at. Also, as a fine tuning, it looks like the text is off-center of the illustration.
Great work.. cheesecake was well deserved!

I love where you're going with these! I think the top one is my fave. The flower draws the eye, but the outlined "wings" keep it feeling light. I like that my eye feels like it has a focal point on the logo. I do really like the font treatment on the 3rd one down though too. Plus, who doesn't love green?!

The top logomark is the strongest and I'd love to see it paired with the font from the second to bottom logo. I'm torn with the font you used and the other font.
Also you may want to bring the distance between "star" and "magnolia" down some... maybe half.
Beautiful design. :)

I vote for the one on the bottom. It's the best most easily readable design and it looks great!

OK - so you have no idea who I am - but I stumbled upon your blog via Auntie Pea's (Shawn) blog! I thought I'd comment anyway! I love logo number 4 although the font could maybe be a little 'bolder'!!!!!! Love all of your crafty nits and pieces - I am looking forward to reading more!
