Y'all know me. If you don't, well, my name is Amy and I'm a very simple kind of girl. Super girly things like fashion and shoes are not on top of my to-do/priority list. Camera gear is. A new bike is. While, I guess I have a colorful sense of style, I just really don't pay that much attention to fashion at all. Don't even get me started on shoes. I have six pairs of shoes and that's it. I am Tomboy Amy at heart.
All of that disappears when it comes to gowns. Especially dramatic, fashion-forward, cutting-edge, extravagant, exquisite, decadent gowns like the one featured above. OH MY! Excessive ruffles and pleats. THAT gets me going like nothing else. During my Fashion Photography course in college I bought several types of fabric to create flowing, draped gowns to be worn by dancers for a project I was planning on doing (which I never did). I drew maybe a dozen designs, quickly realizing I kinda wished I had majored in Fashion (for a good two years I WAS surrounded by fabric and 120 film rolls. Chaotic college years).
Who are some of your favorite fashion designers? What is your general opinion on fashion/fashion industry?

That gown is to die for... but I'm a tomboy like you and I love very simple lines in light as air fabrics... there's nothing sexier than chiffon against the skin. Like getting a little kiss every time you move.

My opinion of fashion / the fashion industry ... is that I'd rather spend my money on camera gear. Or a new bike. :D

Overall I think the fashion industry is quite ridiculous but I do love clothes. I adore clothes and fashion.
I just wish I had more money to waste on it hehe
Usually I would prefer camera gear, but at the moment I am a little winter coat/scarf/boot nutty.
I get far more into fashion in winter.

I'm all about new camera gear, but I have dreams of gowns such as this. Chiffon....floaty. Not frilly; though not a tomboy, I'm not a girly girl, either. I like tailored. The fashion industry is a bit out of whack, for the normal person, but I do love the glam. Can't wait for the Tony's tonight - that's our favorite awards show.

Hey Tomboy Amy,
Oh, I love a pretty frock myself, I'll tell no lies. Designers. . .I'll always love Valentino - his style is beautiful and feminine and grand in a way.

I am the same way. I own about 5 pairs of shoes and most of those are chacos, sneakers, etc. I like down-to-earth fashion. I love lines like A.P.C. but I can't afford to buy them:) Once in a while I like something totally frilly and over the top like you've just posted about.

I myself graduated from fashion design school a year ago. The industry is terrible, especially now. Because of the economy, a lot of my fellow students are on their 3rd or 4th UNPAID internship. You can work for free for a fabulous name (I did-for Narciso Rodriguez) and these days, it isn't worth much. Learn how to sew. Make pretty dresses. And leave it at that.

Ah, that's my duvet cover! I stumbled on here through Flickr and am inspired to do several things that involve moving and buying new cameras.
