My heart is hanging by... a pretty ribbon!

heartornaments01.jpg

More pretty little things I have been working on! Today I managed to roll out of bed at 9:15 am. Making progress. Not making progress in the whole actually starting to work on things side of the issue. I showered for too long, had breakfast and didn't begin sewing till almost noon. Woah, where did my time go. But it's okay. I am aware that I'm still dragging time, soon enough I will be super effective on these precious days off.

By the way, next week, I have Monday and then... Friday off. For reals. Why can't my days off be consecutive? *sigh*

Whatevs. Aren't these little fabric heart ornaments darling? Slowly, I have been letting go of my beloved vintage buttons. It's tough, but all I ever do is stare at them. A few of them I will never give away, they will be stared at till the day I die.

Pretty ribbons I snatched last week before I regretted the state of my empty wallet.

craftiness + geekness = amy

Hello all. How are you? I am doing fantaaabulously fine. The weather is fantastic here in Vegas right now. We might go hiking this Saturday. I don't even know what hiking is. All I know is walking is involved, and I'm not a big Walking fan (walking, as stairs, waking up, counting, learning, opening jars, relationships and a number of other things, is HARD. I'm a bicycle girl). But hey, I'll do anything to experience a little bit of nature.

Want to share some more pictures with y'all lovely peeps. You know, I've never liked peeps. Too marshmallowy for me (and I hate marshmallows). I also hate wine and Journey and football. Maybe I hate America? Nahh.

Anyways, amy, focus. Okay pictures of other crafty things and of how I am slowly taking over my brother's storage room.

Very pretty earrings. I need to start taking more elaborate pictures for my products. giddy giddy with excitement.

love love love love love endless love

fabricillus_and2makes3.jpg
I made this fabric illustration for one of my friends with a sweet sweet family of her own.

officedesk.jpg
This is my desk. It's awesome. And so is wonder woman. That calendar up there has pictures of delicious chocolate desserts. Yum. My desk is protected by the most inefficient soldier this Universe has seen, a stormtrooper. Also, by an armless Darth TATER. Optimash Prime is lying somewhere in here. But I honestly don't want to display him on my desk. This ridiculousness must stop at some time.

officebookshelf.jpg
This room was deemed the storage room because it is where my brother stored all 30-something bins full of unopened Star Wars action figures, ships, old game consoles and general geekness. I hid most of them in two closets...but the TIE fighter and X-wing (honestly, the best spaceship built in the last 60 years... of the Star Wars universe) found their way to my bookshelf. Fourth shelf stores all my remaining Star Wars novels. Facing the camera is Sacrifice, wherein my favorite literary character of all time, Mara Jade, was brutally murdered by her own nephew AND THAT MADE ME REALLY UPSET. REALLY REALLY REALLY UPSET.

.

.
.
and then I wonder why I have no boyfriend. *sigh* Oh Amy.

Pretty fall things

I don't think this post needs too many words, so I'll just go ahead with the pretty things! :D

My Heart Flies Out To You: inspired by the fluttering of my heart. I really like how this bag turned out. :D

The strings of the bird's heart continue for miles and miles till they reach... you. {{muslin, ribbon, satin}}

I am in love with this entirely asymmetrical necklace. For some reason , I see who I am in it: delicate, yet whimsy.{{delica beads, vintage czech clear beads, vintage plastic white beads, wooden pendant, gold fill chain}}

These are totally fun too! {{vintage plastic and acrylic beads, gold fill chain}}

I'm into making bracelet cuffs now. The coral acrylic beads somehow remind me of chemistry...The chemistry of lace? {{ribbon, cotton fabric, lace, acrylic beads, magnetic clasp}}

Am also in the flower brooch mode. I really like this one. :D {{merino felt, suiting fabric, plastic flower beads, vintage czech clear beads}}

Y'all know what this means, right! STAR MAGNOLIA SOON! OMGZ!
Told ya this post didn't need words!

Go or go ahead.

smfabriclogo.jpg

Because I absolutely love to neglect you guys I will post two pictures of crafty things I've been working on (gasp! amy? working on her business!). Above is a work in progress view of the new Star Magnolia logo! It was very important for the logo to have some sort of texture to it, and after much fiddling (unsuccessfully of course) with Illustrator I decided to just sew the whole thing up and work from there. The clouds have changed since this picture. But the basic premise is there. What do y'all think?

broches.jpg

Cute little brooches I made while "working" at the store. I'm a big supporter of brooches. A few weeks ago I picked up a handful of random jewelry findings at a local junk shop:

vintageloot.jpg

Ooooh what will I do with all these! It was fun to arrange them all together. They even looked more cohesive (ugh critique word).

I have big plans for this picture (or similar like these):

Postcards anybody? :)

My friend Boricua took me out fishing today for the very first time in my entire life... but more about that exciting adventure under the cut

fish_muuahah.jpg
I CAUGHT TWO FISH! Well, a catfish and an eel. BUT STILL, OMGZ!

Also, I shall move to NYC (at least for a little while) sometime next year. That's it.

Mmmm pink

owlie.jpg

Meet Owlie*. Owlie is pink and fluffy. Amy has to constantly resist the urge to eat Owlie, because unfortunately Owlie is not edible.

For more yummylicious felted animals visit Meghan's (my Mutation partner in crime) shop! You won't believe your eyes (or stomach)!

* not his real name.

Need....sleep

I am too tired to be witty today. But will update, because well, I'm addicted to blogging.

So on Friday I recieved my awesome order from Paper Source. BEAUTIFUL envelopes for my stationeries! The quality is superb and the colors are even richer in person. If you want some good-lookin' envelopes, notecards, and etc, y'all definitely need to stop by Paper Source. Their prices are even better (plus they packaged my box with these foamies that resemble cheesy puffs! Too funny!)

The photos do not do the set justice. At all.

Because I was ultimately bored today...actually, I shouldn't be, I have bags to sew and homework to neglect... anyways, I decided to decorate some hair pins for my now-short hair. I started doing these funnies way back in high school. But those have kinda already rusted and rotted into oblivion, so I thought it would be a good idea (and healthy!) to make new ones. So here they are!

hairpins.jpg

+ So apparently my computer works properly now. What the heck happened to her, I will never know. Freakin biatch.

+ Crazy Music Request of the day: Do any of you remember this reggae mix that was really hot back in 1996, that started (at least the radio cut) with Shinehead's Jamaican in New York? I REALLY want that mix! I heard it on the radio a few days ago, and I couldn't believe my ears! That shiat was da shizzle. In da hizzouse. Bam.

Sleep.
Must.
Now.

Oh my, how I love lime green!

Mmmm... lime green... Ahem. I haven't been all that crafty since I came back home as I should be, for some odd reason. Oh right, the smoldering heat that has overtaken my house!! Grrr. Did manage to make a cute little bracelet/cuff that's been on my to-try list for a while now, though. Featuring pretty sequins and badly-placed beads (damn presser foot, always getting in the way) and an elegant pearl snap. Next cuff will improve the little finishing mistakes that I so artistically hid from the camera's prejudiced lens.
